The importance of Personal Branding

Personal branding defines you as a person; It allows the customer to follow a relatable story and engage with you. People do not buy goods and services. They buy relations stories and magic (Seth Godin, 2016).

Having a personal brand will allow you to be more relatable and more appealing. This will enable you to make more connections using a human tone of voice people want to hear real-life experiences and engage with a story. If people engage with your brand, they are more likely to purchase goods download an e-book or sign up for a membership. According to Ann Basitianeli, having your own personal brand will allow you to lead more, win more & earn more. (Ann Basitianeli 2017)

How to use Social Media for Personal Branding

Using social media for personal branding is the perfect platform to engage with your customers and reach out to them on a level that will allow then to engage with your content.

Blogs

Using blogs to help promote your personal brand on social media helps with engagement providing the content is good enough and relevant; it can benefit by advising on your Niche to your desired audience, it also gives you the added benefit of ranking on search engines' (Neil Patel ND)

Podcasts

Podcasting with your personal brand is a great way to engage with your ideal audience; having regular, consistent content is critical; the benefits of having a successful podcast can help increase your web traffic, give you greater brand visibility and a loyal following with a relatively low cost you can reach a large audience, Podcasts are becoming more popular as the content can be consumed passively on a journey (Web F.X. 2020)

Audience Interaction

People use social networks for the connection they are seeking relationships with people and brands. Audience interaction is essential to help turn conversations into possible customers, and Social Media engagement is a measure of how people are interacting with your account and help build lasting relationships with customers (Mike Eckstein ND)

Video Content

Using Video contact on social media will increase engagement with your audience. People are more likely to engage with this type of media. According to Optimonster, video marketing will get 66% more qualified leads per year. (Oberlo 2020)

Good examples of using social media for personal branding

Joe Wicks, aka "The Body Coach", has used social media as a platform to promote his own personal brand, Promoting Video content on Facebook for quick and healthy recipes to then launching his bestselling cookbooks "Lean in 15" he now has his own fitness plans & fitness apps, A great example of how you can grow a brand from video content to be worth an estimated £14.5million (thetab.com)

Football Superstar Cristiano Ronald is the most followed person on Instagram with over 244 Million followers (Statista 2020), which is more than all 20 premier league clubs combined (Timesnownews.com 2020). On the pitch, he is one of the most successful players, but his personal brand is one of the world's most successful. His brand has its line of shirts, Speakers, headphone brand and boxer shorts.
